Depuis cette région est devenu un no man's land et en quelques sortes une région protégée depuis 30 ans de l'empreinte humaine. La nature a complètement repris ses droits et la rivière Pripiat regorge maintenant de carpes et de poissons chat ayant des tailles gigantesques ....

Les suricates sont surnommés les sentinelles du desert par leurs manières de surveiller les alentours pour prévenir les attaques de prétadeurs. Contraiement à ce que l'on pourrait croire, ils ne sont pas si farouche qu'ils en ont l'air. Ils acceptent le photographe animalier qui les suit régulièrement.
